MC-PowerFlow X
The concrete admixture for reliable workability with sustainable cements, recycled materials and challenging aggregates.
Clay-containing sands – Quality reduction due to contamination
Sand is an essential component of concrete, as it has a significant influence on its strength, workability and durability. It fills voids, improves the bond between coarse aggregates, controls shrinkage and affects the density of concrete. Angular, washed sand particles are particularly suitable. This high-quality type of sand is becoming increasingly scarce.
Negative effects of using clay-containing sands

Alternative sands
Alternative sands containing clay and other contaminants can significantly impair concrete quality. Clay increases water absorption and negatively affects concrete shrinkage. This can lead to drying cracks, poor adhesion, increased wear and surface defects such as sand streaks or spalling. This is because clay particles interfere with cement hydration and thereby reduce the strength of the concrete. Clay contamination of the aggregate therefore negatively affects both the workability and the material properties of concrete.
What does MC-PowerFlow X do?

Flowable despite contamination
MC-PowerFlow X compensates for this reduced effectiveness due to its completely new chemical composition. When added to the concrete first, it binds the contaminants, allowing subsequent admixtures to regain their full performance. This preserves the workability of the concrete and reliably achieves the desired material properties.
Application example
When using clay-containing sands, the flow properties of concrete or mortar can be significantly improved by using MC-PowerFlow X. Test series show that initial slump can be increased by up to 30%. At the same time, slump retention can also be improved by 15%.
